GTA 6 'Goodtime State' Collector's Edition Leak, Explained

ReportedInsider Gaming4 min read

A new listing on Rockstar's own store backend has reopened a question the studio still hasn't answered: is there a GTA 6 Collector's Edition. On September 24, a product named "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection" turned up through Rockstar's public store API, alongside dozens of other unreleased items. Rockstar hasn't confirmed any of it. But this one looks nothing like the leak we called fake two weeks ago.

What fans actually found

Insider Gaming reported that a GTAForums user pulled roughly 55 unreleased Rockstar Store products out of the site's public API, everything from T-shirts and caps to a Burger Shot-branded lunch bag and a basketball. One entry stood out: "Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection," logged as a physical good and capped at one per customer, the kind of limit stores use to slow down scalpers rather than shoppers.

Outlets don't agree on exactly how much it weighs, which is its own small tell that everyone is reading the same raw data differently rather than copying one press release. Vice put the figure at 8.6 kilograms (18 lb), while Dexerto reported 10 kilograms, crediting the discovery to a GTAForums user posting as "Word." Either number is far heavier than a T-shirt and a keyring, and well past what you'd expect from a plain preorder bonus. Nobody has a photo of what's actually inside. The listing's contents field is empty; only the name, the weight, and the purchase limit exist in Rockstar's own data.

This isn't the leak we called fake in September

We wrote in our September debunking of the fake Collector's Edition leak that photos of a boxed "GTA 6 Collector's Edition," supposedly smuggled out by a Mexican printing contractor, didn't hold up: no verifiable source, a disc-shaped cutout that contradicted Rockstar's already-confirmed disc-free physical edition, and a story that kept changing under questioning. That leak earned the debunked badge it got.

This one is a different kind of evidence. It isn't a photo anyone could fake in an image editor — it's a product entry sitting inside Rockstar's own store database, the same public API that has previously tipped outlets off to real Rockstar Store restocks and price changes before an announcement. A trusted Rockstar dataminer who goes by Ben (videotech) told Vice flatly: "Yeah, the GTA VI Collector's Edition is coming." That's a specific claim from someone with a track record, not an anonymous account that deleted itself after posting.

What Rockstar has actually confirmed, still

None of this changes what's official. Rockstar's own preorder announcement lists exactly two editions of GTA 6, Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99, laid out in full in our editions guide. No Collector's Edition appears in it, in June or since. A name showing up in backend store data is not the same as Rockstar Newswire posting an announcement, and stores have pulled unreleased listings before without ever shipping the product behind them.

The gap between "it's in the database" and "it's on sale" is exactly where September's fake leak lived too, just with much thinner evidence. The difference this time is where the listing came from, and that someone with a real reputation is willing to put their name behind it.

What changes for people who already preordered

Nothing, yet. 89% of preorders placed so far are for the Ultimate Edition, the highest tier that currently exists, and a Collector's Edition, if Rockstar confirms one, wouldn't retroactively add anything to an order already placed. Rockstar has never tied a physical edition to in-game content, and nothing here suggests the Goodtime State box would change that. What's actually included in each existing edition hasn't moved.

What would change things is an actual Newswire post, or a live, orderable product page instead of backend metadata. Our running tracker of what Rockstar has confirmed gets updated the day that happens, and the countdown keeps ticking either way — 56 days out from November 19 as of this writing.

Worth watching, not worth spending money on yet

Rockstar has form here: GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 both got real Collector's Editions, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has publicly talked up GTA 6's "big physical component" more than once. A store listing with a name, a weight, and a scalper-proof purchase limit is a specific, checkable claim, and every outlet that's looked at it has landed on the same read: better evidence than September's leak, still short of a confirmation. Wait for Rockstar's own word before you treat "The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection" as something you can actually preorder today.
