GTA 6 on PS5: The Free GTA+ Month, Terms and Deadline

Sony will give you one month of GTA+ on PS5 if you buy Grand Theft Auto VI digitally on the PlayStation Store by 19 November. This is Confirmed: it is Sony's own offer, written in Sony's own terms, and we read the page on 20 October. It is not a Rockstar announcement, and Rockstar's site only points to it.

The wording moved this morning. Until now most coverage, ours included, described the month as a pre-order bonus. Sony's current text says purchase counts too. That matters if you were planning to buy on launch day.

What Sony's terms say

The offer terms on PlayStation Support set out the rules in plain sentences:

• The window. "Pre-order or purchase GTAVI by November 19, 2026, and claim one month of the GTA+ subscription."
• Who is eligible. "Players who purchase the digital version of either the Standard or Ultimate Edition of GTAVI on or before November 19, 2026."
• The claim deadline. The month "can be claimed by new, lapsed and existing subscribers at a time of their choosing by 31 March, 2027."
• One per account. The subscription "is non-transferable and can only be claimed on the account used to pre-order or purchase the game. Limited to one redemption per account, regardless of additional purchases."
• Stacking. "Existing GTA+ subscribers can stack the month onto their existing subscription."
• What happens after. "After one month, your membership will continue monthly at the regular monthly price until canceled."

The PlayStation Store listing repeats the offer and adds one exclusion: "Ultimate Edition Upgrade is not eligible for this offer." The same listing shows the Vintage Vice City Pack as part of the same deal.

Purchase now counts, not just pre-order

Our store watch logged the change on the morning of 20 October. The US listing used to read "Pre-order Grand Theft Auto VI and get one month of GTA+ on PlayStation 5 at no extra cost." It now opens with a headline, "Grand Theft Auto VI and GTA+ offer", and says "Pre-order or purchase Grand Theft Auto VI digital Standard Edition or Ultimate Edition on PlayStation Store by November 19, 2026." The German listing was rewritten the same way.

Sony's pages do not fully agree with each other on wording. The PlayStation features page, which Rockstar's own GTA 6 site points to, still frames the month as a pre-order bonus and sets the cut-off as "before November 20, 2026". That is the same window as "on or before November 19", just worded as the day after. The Vintage Vice City Pack runs on the same cut-off, as laid out in our editions guide.

None of the texts we read names a time zone for the cut-off. If you are buying on launch day, do it early on 19 November rather than at the last minute.

What it does not cover

• The Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Buying only the upgrade does not earn the month. A Standard Edition purchase on the PS Store does, and so does the full Ultimate Edition.
• Boxed codes. The terms say "the digital version" bought from PlayStation Store. A box is a code bought at a retailer. Sony's text does not address codes, so this is our reading, not a statement from Sony: expect no month. Rockstar's support page lists none for the box either, as we noted in the redeem code guide. We could not reach that Rockstar page today, so treat that line as carried over from our earlier check.
• Some countries. The features FAQ says the offer runs in "all PlayStation Country Stores, excluding Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Russian Federation, Taiwan."
• Xbox. The offer is "GTA+ on PlayStation 5". We have found no equivalent in anything Microsoft or Rockstar has published.

How the claim works

Sony's steps, in order:

1. Buy or pre-order the digital game on the PlayStation Store.
2. Wait for the confirmation email with the GTA+ redemption instructions.
3. Open the GTA+ product page in the store and follow the on-screen steps. Sony says the screen will show the date your free month turns into a paid one.
4. To avoid the charge, cancel in Subscriptions Management before the next payment date.

You have until 31 March 2027, so there is no reason to claim it on day one. Claiming starts the clock, though, so do it when you actually want to use the month.

What is still unknown

Sony's texts do not give the GTA+ monthly price, and we will not guess one. They also say nothing about what GTA+ will include for GTA 6. Rockstar has not published a GTA+ benefits list for the game, and the future of GTA Online is unannounced. Until it is, the free month is a free month of a subscription whose GTA 6 content nobody has shown.
