GTA 6 Languages: English Audio, Subtitles in 13 Languages
Edited by Arthur HofUpdated: Last verified:
GTA 6 will have English voice acting only, with menus and subtitles in 13 languages, according to the Xbox Store. That is the only language list any storefront has published so far, and it comes from Microsoft's product listing, not from Rockstar. So it is Reported, not confirmed, until Rockstar publishes its own list. The game launches on 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
The short version: if you want to read GTA 6 in German, French, Spanish, Japanese or Chinese, the store says you can. If you want to hear Jason and Lucia speak your language, nothing listed so far says you will.
The Xbox Store lists English audio and 13 text languages
The Xbox Store entry for Grand Theft Auto VI splits every language into three columns: audio, interface and subtitles. We read both the US listing and the German listing on 29 September 2026. They carry the same data:
| Language | Audio | Interface | Subtitles |
|---|---|---|---|
| English (United States) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Chinese (Simplified) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Chinese (Traditional) | No | Yes | Yes |
| French | No | Yes | Yes |
| German | No | Yes | Yes |
| Italian | No | Yes | Yes |
| Japanese | No | Yes | Yes |
| Korean | No | Yes | Yes |
| Polish | No | Yes | Yes |
| Portuguese (Portugal) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Russian | No | Yes | Yes |
| Spanish (Mexico) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Spanish (Spain) | No | Yes | Yes |
English is the only language marked for audio. The other 12 get menus and subtitles, with no dubbing.
The same listing marks a long list of languages as not supported at all, among them Arabic, Dutch, Swedish, Turkish, Czech, Greek and Hungarian. It also marks Portuguese (Brazil) as unsupported while listing Portuguese (Portugal). We are reporting that exactly as the store shows it. It is the one entry that differs from GTA V's list (below), and store data can change before launch, so Brazilian players should wait for Rockstar's own list before treating it as final.
The PlayStation Store shows no language list yet
The PlayStation Store page for GTA 6 has a language section in its page data, but it is empty: no spoken languages, no screen languages. We checked the US, UK and German store pages on 29 September, plus the Standard Edition product page in the US and German stores, and found the same blank fields everywhere.
That does not mean the PS5 version has fewer languages. It only means Sony's listing has not been filled in. Rockstar sells one game on two consoles, and nothing suggests the languages will differ, but until the PS Store shows a list, the Xbox entry is the only one we can quote. Which console fits you better is covered in our platforms guide.
What Rockstar has said: nothing yet
Rockstar has not published a language list for GTA 6. There is none on its official GTA 6 site, and none of the seven GTA 6 articles on Rockstar's support site covers languages. The support site does have a language page for GTA V, which is why the next section exists.
This is also why the store data stays Reported. On this site, "Confirmed" means Rockstar or Take-Two said it on the record. A storefront describing someone else's game is credible, but it is not Rockstar talking. Everything Rockstar has actually confirmed so far lives in our everything we know hub.
How languages worked in GTA V
This section is about GTA V, not GTA 6.
Rockstar's support page for GTA V lists three categories, on every platform from PS3 to Xbox Series X|S and PC:
- Full audio: English only.
- Interface and subtitles: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Spanish (Latin America), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
So GTA V shipped with 13 text languages and a single English voice track. The GTA 6 listing on Xbox has the same shape and nearly the same languages. The one difference is Portuguese, where GTA V listed Brazil and the GTA 6 store entry lists Portugal.
GTA V is a pattern, not a promise. It shows how Rockstar handled localization last time, and the Xbox data suggests GTA 6 follows it. It does not prove anything about GTA 6 on its own.
What this means if you don't play in English
If English is not your first language, plan on subtitles. The store's audio column has exactly one entry, so as far as the listing goes, the voices are English and you read them in your own language if it is one of the 12 others. The soundtrack side, including the confirmed album, is on our GTA 6 soundtrack page.
The language list does not change with the edition you buy. It sits on the base game's listing, and both editions contain the same game.
When this page will update
We will update this page when any of these happens:
- Rockstar publishes a GTA 6 language list on its support site or Newswire. That turns the store data into Confirmed, or corrects it.
- The PlayStation Store fills in its language fields.
- The Xbox listing changes, in particular the Portuguese entry.
- The game is out and we can check the in-game settings ourselves on 19 November.
Until then, this page reflects the store listings as we read them on 29 September 2026. The countdown shows how long is left.
