Take-Two Q1 Results: GTA 6's November 19 Date Holds

Take-Two reported its first quarter of fiscal 2027 this morning and reiterated full-year net bookings guidance of $8.0 to $8.2 billion. Grand Theft Auto VI appears in the release's official lineup table with a release date of November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
That is the outcome we said to watch for. In our preview of this call the test was whether the full-year guidance survived a new quarter, because that range is welded to a November launch. It survived, unchanged.
Guidance is a financial commitment, not a reassurance
Strauss Zelnick's statement in the release ties the two together explicitly: "With these positive trends and excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, we are reiterating our Fiscal 2027 Net Bookings outlook of $8.0 to $8.2 billion."
Fiscal 2027 ends March 31, 2027. A November 19 launch puts roughly four and a half months of GTA 6 sales inside that year. Slip the date and a large slice of those bookings falls outside the window, which is why the company cannot quietly hold an $8 billion range and privately plan a delay.
This is the fourth public backing of the date since May, and it carries more weight than the earlier verbal reaffirmations. Those were comments. This is a formal outlook filed with results, alongside a lineup table listing the date in print. Take-Two also guided fiscal 2027 operating cash flow to over $1 billion.
The quarter itself was soft, and that is not a GTA 6 signal
Expect some misreading of the headline numbers, so here they are straight.
Q1 net bookings decreased 3% to $1.39 billion, against $1.42 billion in the same quarter last year. The company describes that as slightly above its own guidance range. GAAP net revenue rose to $1.53 billion from $1.50 billion. GAAP net loss widened to $34.1 million, or $0.18 per share, from $11.9 million, or $0.07 per share, a year earlier.
The widened loss includes a $43.4 million impairment charge. That charge relates to Take-Two deciding not to continue development of an unannounced title from a third-party developer. It has nothing to do with Rockstar or GTA 6, and anyone framing it as a GTA 6 write-down is misreading a line item.
Recurrent consumer spending accounted for 84% of net bookings and fell 1%. The Grand Theft Auto series was again among the largest contributors, second only to NBA 2K. In other words: a flat holding quarter for a publisher whose entire year is loaded into one November release.
No preorder number, exactly as expected
Take-Two disclosed no GTA 6 preorder figure. The quarter ended June 30, capturing five days of a preorder window that opened on June 25 and runs until launch. Six days of a five-month window is not a number the company has any reason to isolate, and it did not.
The only numbers in circulation come from outside. Market research firm Newzoo estimated roughly $180 million in digital preorder spending across the US and the five largest European markets during the final week of June. Those markets represent 69% of lifetime console players for GTA 5, which Newzoo used to extrapolate a global first week of about $260 million, calling it the strongest preorder campaign it has recorded.
Useful, and clearly labelled: that is an estimate from an analytics firm, not audited data from Take-Two. It carries our Reported standard, not our Confirmed one.
Newzoo also went out of its way to knock down a claim that has been circulating widely. GTA 6, the firm said, has not done a billion dollars in preorders this far out from launch. Its wording was blunt: given how preorder curves behave, nothing ever has. If you have seen that billion-dollar figure shared as fact, it is not one.
The official lineup still lists two platforms
The release schedule inside the earnings document lists Grand Theft Auto VI on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC is absent, as it has been from every official listing so far.
That is not new information, and it is not a denial. Rockstar has never announced a PC version, and its recent history is to ship consoles first and PC later. But an earnings release is where a publisher would list a platform if it intended to sell it this fiscal year, and it did not. Anyone waiting on a PC release date got nothing today.
For comparison, the same table lists NBA 2K27 for September 4, 2026 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC. Take-Two prints PC when PC is coming. It also prints PC for Judas, a title with no release date at all, which undercuts the usual explanation that the platform column waits until a date is locked in.
What is still open after today
Four things did not move.
Trailer 3. Take-Two said nothing about a trailer on this call. The theory that one would arrive at the earnings call itself was always a reading of scheduling tea leaves rather than evidence, and the call came and went without a word on it. The reveal had in fact already been dated the day before, by Rockstar rather than Take-Two: an Extended Look on 27 August.
A PC date. Absent from the lineup, unaddressed in the release.
Actual preorder units. The next chance for a meaningful figure is the fiscal second quarter, ending September 30, which will capture a full three months of preorders. Take-Two guided that quarter to $1.42 to $1.47 billion in GAAP net revenue.
A new GTA Online. Zelnick said Take-Two expects to keep supporting the existing GTA Online and gave no timeframe for any successor. GTA 6 itself is still officially listed as a single-player game.
What did move is the thing that mattered most. The date is now backed by a filed financial outlook rather than a spoken sentence, 104 days out. Our countdown keeps running against November 19, and this filing is now the primary source behind the release-date section of everything we know so far.
Correction, 8 August 2026: This post originally said there had been "no announcement, no date, no tease" on the next trailer. That was wrong. Rockstar dated Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look for 27 August on 6 August, the day before this call. Take-Two did not mention it on the call, which is what we had actually checked. The Trailer 3 section above has been corrected, and our full breakdown of the Extended Look is now live.
